Do new homes need an inspection?

If we lived in an ideal world I would say no, but we don't!

Some of the new homes that we have inspected are truly exceptional houses. Unfortunately, some have significant deficiencies. Most lie somewhere in between and you just don't know until it is inspected.

In today's environment with new subdivisions springing up fast and furious, where diligent home builders and non diligent builders are building next to each other, where diligent and not so diligent subcontractors are working on the same home, where some builders are occasionally onsite and others are rarely onsite, where in my opinion city inspectors rarely have enough time to do what they should - errors and oversights during the building process are common.

Most of the deficiencies we find in homes under 10 years old were present when the home was new. Few people would purchase a 10 year old home without a professional inspection.
